1923 Model T Turtledeck “Cartwright” Roadster

1923 Ford Model T Turtledeck roadster hot rod originally built by Art Cartwright in late 60s, later shown in Canadian Classics & Performance May 2003 magazine. New custom frame by Wadson’s, new triangulated 4 link rear suspension with Ford 9” rear end, new solid axle front suspension with quick ratio manual steering rack. The body is fiberglass from the 1960s and there’s still purple paint underneath her, I didn’t want to cover it all up.

All new classic instruments gauges, rebuilt 283 small block with comp cams K kit and MSD 6AL controller with MSD distributor/ coil/ wires. 283 spiker iron heads. 327 2 barrel intake with Rochester 2GC 2 barrel- perfect amount of fuel for the bigger camshaft and the automatic choke works like a charm. New Walker radiator, new water pump, all lights and gauges work. Brad’s Transmissions TH200R 4 speed automatic transmission with overdrive topped with a B&M ratchet shifter. Edelbrock valve covers, Fel-pro gaskets throughout. High performance motor and transmission mounts. Aftermarket inline transmission cooler.

Engine is still on break in with ZDDP. Brand new brakes and BFG Radial T/A tires.

It’s fun to drive, steers and brakes well. It even takes the bumps decently. I have had it up past 75 mph and everything is happy.

The horn does not work. The first horn was defective and I do not know what is up with the replacement.

It has 200 miles on the odometer.

I am selling it in order to get our 1966 Pontiac Sport finished- more room so the whole family can go in the car, right now it is one at a time. 🤣 That and my wife pretty well hates the open car thing, hence the car Pontiac.

Sorry no test pilots, but I will take you for a ride in this if you are interested- it’s like a V8 powered shopping cart, except it chirps going into 2nd gear. The clear could use a polish, my parents rescued it from a body shop that was neglecting it instead of doing what they promised- that never happens, right?

I have the receipts from Wadson’s as well as the 2003 article I hope! 🤔
