Clearly benefiting from attentive prior ownership and proper maintenance and storage, this handsomely presented 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible is a wonderful example that stays true to its factory specifications. Scheduled for manufacture on March 29, 1966, this Dearborn-built Mustang is a factory Code X Vintage Maroon car with a high-quality repaint performed during the 1990s that also retains factory-specified Code 26 Black Vinyl upholstery. Delivered new via Ford of Canada’s Central D.S.O. (District Sales Office), the Mustang is powered by a correct 200 cubic-inch inline 6-cylinder engine rated at 120 horsepower, mated to a floor-shifted C-4 3-speed automatic transmission. Under a previous owner, a correct, high-quality Black vinyl convertible top and a new fuel tank were fitted to the Mustang during the 2000s. Desirable features and options include power-assisted brakes and steering, a power top, front bucket seats, a floor console, pushbutton AM radio, and a very rare, Ford-scripted Rally-Pac including a tachometer and electric clock. The interior appears highly original, clean, and very well-maintained throughout. The engine compartment retains correct finishes and components, and the 200 cubic-inch engine appears original to the car, still sporting the original accessories and components, plus much of the factory-original paint finishes. The undercoated underbody and chassis are similarly clean and sound, retaining OEM suspension components and drum brakes front and rear. Side windows are OEM Carlite-scripted items. Rounding out this highly attractive 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible are GT driving lamps, twin chrome mirrors and a set of correct steel wheels mounting wire wheel covers and whitewall radial tires. The hood, trunk lid, and doors all feature excellent fit and alignment – a hallmark of a quality classic vehicle.
